Circa 1999

 

In 1999 Mike McElroy and Frank Fonseca had a vision. At the time Mike was working as a paving superintendent/foreman and Frank was a Local 3 grinder operator. They worked together on numerous occasions, on various job sites over ten years. The two become friends and worked so well together that they decided to buy their own milling machine. This is when Fonseca/McElroy Grinding began.

After more than a decade of operating a successful business in the Bay Area, they felt it was time to expand. It was around this time that Jerry Mack, one of the founders of Bobbie Mack Grinding Co., realized that he still had a lot more to offer.  Jerry came into contact with Mike at FMG, which had just opened up a Division in the Central Valley. After a 5 minute negotiation, Jerry had hitched himself to the FMG “wagon” and has been pleased to be a part of our growth in the Central Valley.

Today, we are operating out of 2 locations, proud to be working with contractors on both private and public projects throughout California. FMG has a stellar safety record with productive, reliable operators on every machine. We are Union signatory, a certified Small Business Enterprise (SBE) and proud members of Engineering & Utility Contractors Association.
